BEHR Solid Color Wood Stains last 5 to 10 years on horizontal surfaces and 15 to 25 years on vertical surfaces.

Can Behr Deckover be removed?

Removing this product will be tough, though. On Behr’s website, they explain that removal of DeckOver requires multiple application of stain and finish stripper, and will likely also require a scrubber, scraper, power washer and/or sander.

Can you paint over deck over?

Can I stain over DeckOver?

Deck stains will not cover deck paint. To stain over a painted deck, you will first have to remove any current paint from your deck, either by using a deck stripper or by sanding the surfaces of your deck boards. Once the paint has been removed, you can then stain the deck.

Why is my deck over peeling?

Because wood absorbs moisture from rain and snow, and when the sun comes out and dries the wood out, the moisture vapor from the wood needs to be able to pass through the stain and escape. If there is too much stain, it restricts the moisture from evaporating away, so peeling can occur.

How long does it take for Behr deck over paint to dry?

Dries to touch in 4 hours. Wait 24-48 hours before light foot traffic. 72 hours to full cure. Additional dry time may be needed in cooler temperatures and higher humidity.

How much Behr Deckover do I need?

One gallon of ADVANCED DECKOVER Coating can cover up to 75 Sq. Ft. with 2 Coats. It is strongly recommended to fill cracks, nail holes and accessible board ends prior to applying the first coat.

Can you build a deck over a pool?

Can you use Deckover on new wood?

Hi Lance, Yes, the new wood still needs to be prepped according to label instructions. We do not recommend pressure washing, but definitely clean the new pressure treated wood before applying DECKOVER. Our No. 63 All-in-one Wood Cleaner works great for this!
