Instant-join is a feature that allows your students to join your game of Gimkit without entering a game code or typing in their names! All they have to do is visit and they’re in your game! To use instant-join, you must have a class with student accounts.

Is Gimkit free for teachers?
I launched Gimkit four years ago as a school project. It cost money to keep the servers running, and I certainly wasn’t going to lose money on a school project!

Assignments. The easiest way to use Gimkit remotely is with assignments. With assignments, students can play Gimkit at anytime and anywhere! That means you don’t need to host a live game, share a game code, or even be online at all!

Is Gimkit better than Kahoot?
Both Kahoot and GimKit are very engaging for students, although Kahoot appeals to the more competitive students. GimKit allows for questions to repeat on a random loop, allowing for more repetitions. Kahoot, Quizizz, and Quizlet Live are free, while GimKit is a pay service (with a very limited free version).
Can students create Gimkits?
Students can help you build a kit in minutes by submitting their own questions using the KitCollab feature. This makes it easy to insert an interactive review game into your lesson with minimal prep. Teachers can also use the assignments feature to give homework.
Why can only 5 people join Gimkit?
Because we cannot control the devices or networks used with Gimkit, we have a hard limit on how many players can join a game. Our hard limit for the number of students that can join a live game of Gimkit is 500 students.
Can you host a Gimkit without an account?
Students can participate in Gimkit without signing up. While student accounts can be used to help improve the safety of games, they’re always optional. We comply with major US and State-wide privacy laws. Email us if you’re not sure if we comply with your local privacy laws – chances are, we do!
